Former US envoy Dennis Ross said on Saturday the Lebanese army is not yet able to replace Hezbollah in the south or disarm it, adding that it requires US, European and Arab support.

"The framework agreement between Israel and Lebanon is about restoring Lebanese sovereignty and producing Israeli withdrawal. Can the Lebanese army replace Hezbollah in the south and disarm it. Not yet, it needs US, European, Arab support. Mobilize that support and isolate Hezbollah," he posted on X.

An Iranian hardline commentator said on Saturday recent US strikes amounted to continued “aggression” despite what he described as an agreement being in place, arguing that Washington views Iran as a “predictable” actor.

Vahid Khozab, speaking on Iran’s state television program said limited and repetitive responses would allow adversaries to set the terms of engagement, adding that stopping the trend would require an “unpredictable” response.

A senior US defense official said Iran reconstituted its air defense and missile systems along the Strait of Hormuz since a ceasefire on April 7, according to Fox News.

The official said this rebuilding led to renewed US strikes on previously targeted areas, including locations near Qeshm Island and Sirik, adding that Iranian forces have “moved things around” despite significant damage from earlier operations.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) said on Saturday US forces conducted additional strikes on multiple targets in Iran following what it described as an Iranian attack on the Panama-flagged tanker M/T Kiku near the Strait of Hormuz.

CENTCOM said US aircraft struck military surveillance infrastructure, communications systems, air defense sites, drone storage facilities and minelayer capabilities, adding that the action followed earlier strikes after an attack on another commercial vessel.

Iranian lawmaker Kamran Ghazanfari on Saturday criticized a statement attributed to Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states saying regional peace requires countering threats from Iran, including missiles, drones and proxy forces.

In a post on X, Ghazanfari said Iran’s retreat from what he described as “legitimate 10-point demands” and its push for negotiations had allowed what he called “Trump’s servants” to “show off” against Tehran.
