Mar 9, 2026, 16:16 GMT+0

US President Donald Trump said he had spoken with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese about the Iranian women’s national football team being granted asylum.

“He’s on it! Five have already been taken care of, and the rest are on their way,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social.

“Some, however, feel they must go back because they are worried about the safety of their families, including threats to those family members if they don’t return,” he added.

Trump said Albanese was handling a “rather delicate situation.”
